A good portion of my newest book, SpellCast from Darkness takes place in Ireland.
You might be asking yourself, “Why Ireland?”
Honestly? I’ve always wanted to go there. The history and legends, the people, the language, the music… The complete atmosphere of Ireland is one of magic. My husband and I both have ancestry that originates in Ireland. Besides, if I couldn’t make it there myself, why not have my character visit instead?
To incorporate some of Ireland into the book, I used a map of the country, basing settings on actual locations (although some are fictitious). I also used Irish language. At the back of my book, you’ll find a foreign language guide, complete with definitions of various words and phrases. I also use Hindi, Norwegian, and Twi (a dialect of the Akan language of Ghana) – all of which are included in the guide.
