After I wrote Beyond the Shadows, I was done. I had the story in my head for so long that it was cathartic to finally have it out, digitally and in print, for others to read. I could finally rest.
But I was wrong.
I started to hear from people that they wanted more of the main characters, Michael Hawkins and Cecelia “Celie” Moore. “How can this be the end?” they’d say. “I need more of the two of them!” I struggled with ideas, creating an idea board for a direction to go in. One day, it all came together, and I had a new adventure for them to go on.
I fleshed it out, outlined it, and began to write. Before long, the idea came to me for a third book. My one, single, lone book had turned into a trilogy. Who knew that my original story would take on such a life? I certainly hadn’t.
Now I’m knee-deep in the third book, writing away about new characters and existing ones, delving further into their lives as if they were real. It’s amazing to be on this end of things, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I simply hope that it will continue long into the future.
Beyond the Shadows (Book One) and SpellCast from Darkness (Book Two) in the Beyond the Shadows book series are out now and can be found on Amazon, Apple Books, and Barnes & Noble.
The third book in the trilogy, Against the Coming Dark, will be released in late 2022/early 2023.
